INT. ASU FIDM MUSEUM / DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - DAY

ELODIE GOLDBERG JACQUEMAIN stands before a vinyl wall bearing a quotation from KURT ANDERSEN.

The text remains fixed.

ELODIE moves through the frame.

The body and camera move at different rates.

MUSE
A story inside a story inside a story.

THE PIONEERS
A brutal infinite regress. At best mise en abyme.

ACTOR
Some things come together in a circle y’all.

A monitor plays a rapid succession of images.

GRUNGE.

RAP.

MADONNA.

Images flicker and replace one another.

Popular culture absorbs and redistributes the visual language of the avant-garde.

ELODIE moves between three garment display frames.

Vertical divisions bisect the images.

Her body appears whole.

Then fragmented.

Then whole again.

The triptych holds.

One by one, the images detach from their frames and fall away through STOP-MOTION.

Fragments separate from their original context.

The image disappears into darkness.

FADE TO BLACK.
