A poster designed for a Rusha & Co. exhibition with Santiago Evans Canales moves between exhibition, distribution, and painting. Its circulation becomes part of its composition. A Polaroid of Oceana, originally made for a stop-frame fashion film, enters alongside photographs from a seedy Los Angeles hotel and a collage involving a digital curator at the Serpentine. These materials carry different intentions, technologies, and social histories. The poster introduces a question about the relationship between an image and its use. As the images move through commercial, institutional, and personal contexts, their meanings accumulate. Design becomes painting, and painting enters the world through design.
