A.1 | EP.1 | Medium: In Medias Res

(Narrative Arc | Logline)

In medias res / Nonlinear revelation | Inside the unfinished space of a new luxury complex in Bangkok, Sol Axiom (The Pioneers), Elia Root (The Muse), and King Rivers (The Actor) assemble an installation of paintings, textiles, fashion images, and jewelry. A mysterious image draws them backward and forward through its making, revealing how materials, memories, and gestures continually rewrite the story of their own origins.
(ACt 1)

Circular incandescent light tubes hang exposed within the construction site, framing an installation that appears somewhere between a boutique display and a scene still being assembled. Expensive jewelry rests against paintings. Textiles hang beside large prints of models wearing garments, their images appearing as photographs of crumpled photographs. Printed folds mimic the fabric beside them. Elia moves through the installation while Sol adjusts a painting and King frames a view that conceals the unfinished building.
(Plot Point 1)
Elia reaches toward a fold that turns out to be flat. Her gesture carries across a cut into an earlier moment: a photograph being bent, a textile being arranged, a model turning within a garment. The narrative moves backward through the materials and actions that produced the image.
(Act 2)
Fragments of the installation’s making accumulate out of sequence. Sol places jewelry against a painted surface. Elia turns the pages of a lookbook, finding an image of a garment hanging nearby. King photographs a print whose creases belong to the photograph depicted within it. Fabric, paper, skin, and paint exchange appearances. Beyond the frame, construction continues.
(Plot Point 2)
King widens the view, revealing an earlier photograph of the installation lying open in a lookbook. Sol has been using it to arrange the objects, though the photograph shows a configuration they have not yet completed. Elia looks from the page to the room. What appeared to document the installation is also directing its construction.
(Act 3)
The opening view returns. The hanging circles appear as orbs, auras, or simply lights illuminating an intriguing boutique display. King keeps the camera running as Elia lifts a textile and Sol moves a painting, exposing the unfinished wall behind it. A printed fold meets a real one, briefly completing the illusion. The installation changes again, and its documentation becomes the beginning of another arrangement.
